Waste management in the state of Oklahoma is governed by the Oklahoma State Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ). With the EPA’s approval, Oklahoma has been authorized to carry out the hazardous waste management provisions of the RCRA, enforce those laws, and create its own laws regarding hazardous and nonhazardous waste management. Before these state-specific laws can take effect, they must first be at least as stringent as those at the federal level and they must be approved by the EPA. Any changes to state waste management programs must be accepted by the EPA.
Due to the industries present in Oklahoma, the state has some waste management needs that are more prevalent than others, including:
Pipeline spill cleanup:
Several major crude oil pipelines meet in Oklahoma, including the Keystone Oil Pipeline. Oklahoma has some of the most oil pipeline spills out of any state in the country.
Training services:
Given Oklahoma’s central location, it is one of the nation’s major trucking hubs. To keep workers in the transportation industry safe, Clean Management offers OSHA-compliant training services.
