Flatbed Trucking

Flatbeds

Flatbed trucks are useful across multiple business industries, including construction, manufacturing, and transportation. A flatbed truck can be used for carrying oversized loads or oddly shaped material that wouldn’t fit in a normal vehicle. In order to determine if a flatbed truck could be beneficial for transporting your materials, you should consider the load size, weight, and the extent of help you will need when loading and unloading your cargo.

Most Common Uses of a Flatbed Truck

Baled Tires

The U.S accumulates millions of tires each year, creating waste and the potential for hazardous fires. A tire bale helps to eliminate this waste by attempting to repurpose the unusable tires. It is composed of old vehicle tires pressed together and banded with wire. These tires can then be re-used for different construction projects. The bales are extremely heavy and are composed of about 100 tires, so a flatbed truck is critical to transport them.

Building Materials

A flatbed transport truck can help deliver any heavy or bulky construction materials, including lumber, concrete, brick, steel beams, and more. Flatbed trucks are also very helpful in the transportation process because the heavy materials can be unloaded by crane from any direction. The truck’s trusses allow any material to hang over the sides if they cannot fit perfectly inside the bed.

Scrap Metals

A construction or building site can utilize flatbed trucking services to remove any scrap metal from their site. The scrap metal is taken to a recycling facility, where it will be sold and reused by a different organization. The flatbed truck is ideal for removing scrap metal because it’s easy to load, unload, and dump the material.

Other Equipment

When large equipment, such as tractors, military tanks, plane parts, or farm equipment needs to be moved, a flatbed semitruck is the most efficient solution for the operation. It’s safer than driving the actual equipment to the destination and often much faster.

Super Sacks

A Super Sack refers to a bulk container that holds dry material, including sand, fertilizer, or grains, for example. These materials are very heavy in large quantity; the capacity is around 2,000 pounds. The Super Sacks are loaded onto the flatbed truck using the loops in the bag.
